📌The National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy Externship program is an educational opportunity designed to help participants build conservation knowledge and develop important career-connected skills.
❗Meet scientists, experts and explorers who are working for nature—and find your place in caring for the planet. ❗Participants join live online workshops and networking sessions, explore curated digital content, and create a community-based conservation project to practice research, storytelling and presentation skills. ❗We are committed to creating cohorts of young people from all backgrounds, beliefs and cultures so that participants can develop a network of peers and professionals to support their journey to becoming an informed changemaker for nature.
❗These externships represent an educational opportunity; they are not an internship, employment, “Internship-Track,” or a pathway to employment at any particular organization. The projects undertaken by externs are meant to develop an externs’ skills and will not be used by either organization in their work, except potentially to showcase the externship program itself. ❗No compensation is offered or available for externs; a small stipend may be available solely to enable participants to obtain internet access necessary to participate in the program and complete final projects.
